It was fitting that my Memorial Day weekend wedding was full of all the branches of the military. Matt is an air force man and many of the guests graced us with newly starched uniforms.  Respect and honor are two words that I associate with the military, and there was tons of both going around on Saturday. Veronica and Matthew are two people rooted in family tradition, which both of their fathers talked about gracefully in their speeches at the reception. They gave advice about honoring and respecting one another as husband and wife as they start their new lives together in San Antonio. It was touching to see two fathers so incredibly proud of their children and the success that they have had thus far in life. After the speeches drinks were had and dancing followed. It was a night that no one wanted to end.

At the end of the evening as guests were filtering out of the grand concourse and the DJ packed up his equipment, the voices of the friends filled an old train station by the river. Out of nowhere a few keys are struck on the piano… and then a few more picked up a tune. Veronica and Matthew’s guests had no intention of leaving without an encore and that’s exactly what they got; Matt lifted Veronica up onto the grand piano as everyone belted out “Piano Man.” Yea, this was an awesome wedding.
