I recently was fortunate enough to shoot a wedding at the Pittsburgh Opera house down in Pittsburgh’s historic Strip District. Hidden amongst the open market vendors and black and gold distributors there is a rustic brick building that houses some of Pittsburgh’s most talented performers. Instead of hearing the deep bellowing voices of talented opera singers I was witness to another great performance in the opera hall…only this time it wasn’t an act. It was a great speech from Mike’s older brother. He talked about how proud he was that his sibling was getting married to a wonderful bride in Katie, and how honored he was to call himself Mike’s brother. He boasted about Mike’s achievements at his law firm and told him he looked up to Mike even though he was the older child. He went on to gush over Katie’s inner beauty and how she is Mike’s perfect match. It was touching, and happy tears were plentiful. After his speech we snuck into the backstage area with Katie and snapped some images in front of the performers’ mirrors. Katie was at ease back there. Probably because her confidence smiled right back at her in those mirrors just like her guests did all evening long. The special moments didn’t end there, though. Dancing started soon after and didn’t stop all night long. Mike’s dad even broke it down and sung a song for his son’s new wife. It is so special to me when I get to be a part of a day that is filled with so many amazing people, which is why Katie and Mike’s wedding meant so much to me. Thank you for a beautiful evening at the opera, Katie and Mike. I wish you both a marriage that is filled with love and happiness.
