Sometimes I get a couple that wants to try something a little different. They want to break out of the norm and do something that I haven’t tried before. I love it when I get to step out of my comfort zone. Whether it’s with photography or life I believe pushing yourself to do things out of your normal routine will allow you grow as a person and let you experience more things in life. I stepped out of my comfort zone after college when I decided to travel to Europe by myself. It was intimidating to fly to another continent without a single familiar face. I did my best to be as friendly as possible and by the end I had new friends from all over the globe. I know I have a couch to crash on in Innsbruck, Austria. I know I can share great conversation and wine over a late night dinner in Florence, Italy. I know I have some crazy Brits in London to hang out with if I ever want to get roudy for a futbol match. It’s amazing what a friendly smile and openness to the world can bring you. This trip changed my life in many ways. Not only did it open my mind and eyes to the world, but it was where I first fell in love with photography. Who knows where I would be if I never went. Who knows if I would be doing what I do now if I didn’t have the brass to pack up and go. I’m glad I did though. It changed my life so significantly. I encourage everyone to get out of his or her comfort zone and push themselves to live a life without knowing what’s around the next corner. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be intimidated. There are far more good people out in the world than bad, I’m just sad I won’t be able to meet every single one of them. So here is to taking a chance and stepping outside of your comfort zone. Cheers to possibilities and not knowing what will come next.
