I don’t know how I managed to avoid Hartwood Acres up until this point as a photographer. It’s a classically designed mansion that looks like something out of Downton Abbey. I half expected Mr. Carson to pop out and scold me for not behaving like a proper gentleman while photographing my couple (I asked them to climb a tree). Sorry if you don’t watch the show because you will no doubt have no idea what I am talking about. I arrived early to the location as I always do to scope things out for Kristin and Michael’s engagement shoot and couldn’t have been happier. It’s one of those locations where there are so many opportunities. A perfect scenario to satisfy the appetite of a location hungry photographer.
Kristin and Michael were the ones who chose the Tudor mansion as a backdrop to their engagement shoot (way to go guys). Cool, calm, and collected. That’s how I would describe these two. They were willing to go with the flow, even when I asked them to climb a huge oak tree on the property. To be honest Kristin was kind of pumped about it. I’m pretty sure she thought she was Katniss….. and that means your pretty cool in my book.
I was happy to see that October didn’t take all the leaves with it. We were lucky enough to spot some beautiful burnt orange and red colors to use as a backdrop for some of our images. The calm November day complimented Kristin and Michaels’ personalities well. Their calmness was only interrupted by their laughs, which they exchanged frequently. I love it when couples can act naturally together. When I can capture their real smiles or laughter I prefer it much more than if I had to direct them. So thank you Kristin and Michael for being awesome! It got me really excited to shoot your wedding 🙂
