Of course we decide to come to London the one time they get a snow storm. To them a few inches of white fluff means the city needs to shut down. Schools are canceled, armies of snowmen are rolled, and the BBC couldn’t stop playing footage of people pushing cars. It reminded me of the coverage of snowpocolypse in Pittsburgh…..except there wasn’t any snow. Despite the “snowstorm” we fought through the cold and decided to see London all bundled up, and I am glad we did. London is an exceptionally clean and cultural city. It has the variety of New York without being so gritty. Everything seems more cheery here. The flats are quaint, the people helpful,  and whiney children even sound sweet with their charming accents. It’s hard to be in a bad mood in the morning when the pulp orange juice says “with juicy bits,”…. with juicy BITS….I freakin love it.

After I got over my childish laughs about british lingo we decided to scope out locations for our shoot tomorrow and get a better feel for our surroundings. We walked about a mile to Fulham Palace, marveling at all the great restaurants, bakeries, and mopeds along the way. Fulham estate was great because we could walk the grounds freely, check out the walled gardens, and go into the house, which was once occupied by a bishop with an awesome beard.

After making Abbey act as a stand in model for my test shots we headed back to our B&B in fear that we would lose some of our extremities to frostbite. After defrosting for a bit we started the unofficial Harry Potter tour. Anyone who has seen the movies will perk up immediately to hearing “King’s Cross” because it was where young Harry first ran his cart into platform 9 3/4 to begin his journey to Hogwarts on the Hogwarts Express. Beyond that, the train station itself is beautiful with its architecture that is a hybrid of indoor/outdoor, old/new, classic industrial/modern contemporary London.

We finished the night with a terrific Moroccan dinner and a search to watch the Pens game. We didn’t find any hockey in London, but we did find a great bottle of Shiraz! Can’t wait for our shoot tomorrow. I know we will be able to get some amazing images with this exceptional couple!

GO PENS!
