This past weekend Abbey and I headed down to Washington, D.C. for an engagement shoot with Jason and Sarah. They agreed to start the shoot at sunrise…on a Saturday… which I am so thankful for because we got some insane light and a chance to see the capital from a new perspective void of fanny packs and field trips. They both looked pretty amazing, especially for waking up before 4 AM.
We spent most of our time at the beloved cherry blossom tree we staked out the night before and inside the courtyard of the Smithsonian Castle. As if that wasn’t beautiful enough, we also went to Georgetown and got some great shots at Dumbarton Oaks (Imagine Downton Abbey but cooler). The cherry blossoms and historic setting were fantastic, but it was really Jason and Sarah that made the biggest impact. I loved it when I would tell them I was fixing some of my settings and to relax for a second and they would just smile, laugh, and kiss each other like the camera was still pointed at them. Jason is a pretty quiet guy, but when Sarah made him laugh it was loud and infectious and you couldn’t help but to laugh as well.
It is my belief that photographs genuinely look better when the couple sincerely enjoys spending time together. Jason and Sarah are just great people that love each other tons, which is why I think this cherry blossom engagement shoot turned out so great. To put how great they are into perspective: I asked Sarah to email me some vineyards in Virginia if she thought about it sometime and I came home to a thorough list of 50 of the best vineyards in the area. Wow. Super freaking awesome. Thanks Sarah 🙂 I am so thankful for this great couple and a great weekend in Washington!
