She was out with friends and he was looking forward to a cold brew after a kickball game. Valerie wasn’t expecting to meet her future husband amongst the crowd, but when she saw Matt in his grass stained uniform her heart melted. At least that’s what Matt claims with a devious smile creeping up on his face. The two of them started a conversation that they didn’t want to end and from there a relationship bloomed into what will soon be a marriage.

That was over 3 years ago and now it’s 2013- the year these two are going to change their relationship status to married.  This August Valerie and Matt will be celebrating at PNC Park, and it’s going to be one heck of a wedding. A few months ago I had a session with Val’s sister Rhonda, which is the first time I got to spend some time with this great bunch of people. It is always the people that make a wedding spectacular, and this group is nothing short of exactly that.

We headed to Dark Hollow Woods Park in Oakmont for Val and Matt’s Pittsburgh engagement session and were instantly greeted by a herd of friendly pups; Which is something that always puts me in a good mood when I’m shooting. One of my favorite photos of the session is of a golden retriever that wanted to make an appearance in the bottom of the frame (it’s in the blog post below). I can’t blame him for trying to get close to this couple. The two of them looked super snazzy, and when we combined that with some killer light and Val’s stunning red hair awesome imagery ensued. It is a strong belief of mine that if you can find beautiful light, you can create stunning images no matter what the setting. The setting in this case didn’t need any help but the dapple light peeking through the treetops made for a few shots that I geeked out over. Can’t wait for your wedding you two!
