MARY & BRENT | MOUNT WASHINGTON ENGAGEMENT SESSION | PITTSBURGH WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

I’m a big advocate of couples putting in some thought for engagement sessions. The more personal the better. I can’t tell you how much I mean that. You love sailing or being on the water?…perfect! Let’s get a boat and go cruising. You love pumpkin carving and seed roasting every year? Awesome… Let’s go to a pumpkin patch and take your photos. If the two of you love going camping lets do THAT. What makes you unique as a couple? That’s what I am most interested in 🙂

And that’s why I was so happy to see the following in my inbox from Mary. It made me smile. It was endearing, heartfelt, and a bunch of other similar adjectives. I couldn’t have said it better myself so I will let Mary’s email fill you in.

“There’s a tiny little tavern up on Mount Washington called Bigham Tavern. It’s on the corner of Virginia Ave and Bigham St. You probably wouldn’t know it unless you lived up there. Brent lived on Bigham for 2 years and my aunt Sue (who was with my mom the day we met you) and uncle Paul live on Virginia. My Uncle Paul was diagnosed with colon cancer my sophomore year at Duquesne. While I was still at Duquesne, I would spend 1 day a week with my uncle after his cancer treatments and all 4 of us would meet every Wednesday or Tuesday for a date night at Bigham. Chicken wings and burgers were always the main course with a side of beer, wine and rum & cokes 🙂 Date nights were the best. The only thing Brent and I ALWAYS do when we go back to Pittsburgh is go back to Bigham. My uncle passed away last year before Brent and I got engaged. I was super close with my uncle and he loved Brent. Planning a wedding without him is tough. And being in Pittsburgh without him is always going to be hard, but we’ll always have Bigham 🙂 Sooo my idea is to start off our engagement pictures at Bigham?! Eating burgers and wings and drinking beer is completely me and Brent and where we would be most comfortable, and Bigham tavern means more to us than any other place in Pittsburgh! What do you think? Even if we cant really do pictures inside or something we’d still like to treat you to Bigham :)”

What do I think? I think you two are amazing and am so happy that you wanted to do something completely different. For a couple that claims they aren’t photogenic I couldn’t disagree more. Thanks so much letting me tag along to your special place for a Mount Washington engagement session:)
