MEAGHAN & STEVE | A RAINY DAY IN THE MEXICAN WAR STREETS

My goal for an engagement shoot is to create a relaxed environment for my clients so that they can simply be themselves. From my experience, that is the key to bring out the most honest emotions. Honest emotions translate into awesome images. This time around it was a little easier since I’ve known Meaghan and Steve for quite some time. Abbey grew up next door to Meaghan and they have been friends since oversized sweaters and stirrup leggings were a thing.  Needless to say, they didn’t need the normal coaching that I give my clients. They let loose and showcased their great personalities without my help. Okay…we might have had a few microbrews beforehand to enhance the relaxed environment, but it was a blast nonetheless.

We took a walk with Steve, Meaghan, and their energetic  Airedale, Maddie, in the park by their house located in the Mexican War Streets. It was a relaxing stroll, which made for great photographs. Then came the wind. Then came the rain. And somewhere in there we tried to save a Chihuahua that fell into the pond as its crazy owner yelled us at. Throughout it all, Meaghan and Steve were as cool as ever and maintained their great energy and smiles.

I was extremely thankful Meaghan and Steve were willing to spend some extra time at the shoot to get some really amazing photographs. Some of my favorites came when the sun had set and we shot with just my flash and the city lights. Which is great because, like the rest of day, we could never predict what happened next. We wanted pictures of fireworks so badly. Literally the second I got set up with lighting the last firework that went off for the night. That didn’t matter, though; we still got some amazing images of them lit under the umbrella.

Rain clouds, Chihuahuas, and a dog that acted as though it was hopped up on Redbull could not stop us from capturing beautiful images of Meaghan and Steve. Meaghan…. you look absolutely beautiful. I am so grateful that you trusted me to capture the love between you and Steve. When I can give my friend something that means the world to them it is something extremely special to me.  I know the two of you will live a life of happiness and love. I can’t wait to see what is in store for you and am already thrilled to be a part of your wedding next year.
