I’m a big fan of the fall season. So when Hali and Chuck told me they wanted to head to Raccoon State Park in Pittsburgh for their engagement session I was all about it. I knew we would capture the leaves just as they were falling off the trees getting ready for winter. The warm color palette was perfect for these two and I was of course excited to be shooting with such vibrant backgrounds.
The more important thing to note other than the turning leaves, crisp fall air, and apple cider (that is occasionally spiked) are these two genuine people. Look at that first picture and tell me that those two aren’t genuinely in love….you can’t. And if you had the opportunity to meet them and spend some time with them my point would be even more clear. And that is why I enjoyed this session so much. There was no ‘faking it’. They naturally looked fantastic together. Sometimes it takes awhile for someone to get comfortable in front of the camera. And I am one of those people. With that being said Hali didn’t need any help getting comfortable. Hali and Chuck were completely themselves together which is the most important aspect of capturing a couple at an engagement session. I want to tell the story of who they are together, not something that I have created by forced posing.
Not only were these two willing to go in the woods for photos but they were game to go for a hike for some great shots. We trekked through Raccoon State Park to take advantage of the picturesque landscape. I am thankful we did. You’ll see why with the photos below. After our hike in the woods we made our way to Hozak tree farm for sunset. We were only there for 20 minutes and it was worth every minute. The warm sunset faded over the hill of the tree farm just in time to capture a kiss between Hali and Chuck that was stamped with the beautiful orange sky behind them. It was the perfect way to end the day 🙂 Thank you for a terrific fall afternoon. I can’t wait to shoot your fall wedding next year!
Cheers
