I’m going to be shooting in Paris today.

That is what I told myself while waking up in France with a tasty chocolate croissant in one hand and my camera in the other. It was hard to believe at the time. How much things have changed in the past few years. I was looking forward to today for awhile. The only problem was that we were dealing with a freezing rain storm that seemed set on ruining our day. It was like the Snow Miser from the Christmas claymation movies had a personal grudge against us. Whatever I said…. we’re in Paris and are going to get a picture in front of the Eiffel Tower even if I have to sit in a puddle of slush. Yep….did that. It was cold, wet, and almost unbearable but who cares, it was worth it. Afterwards I got a crepe underneath the Eiffel Tower to warm me up. How could I not be happy at the end of the day?

Again Brittany and Lew found a way to look completely content in the midst of swirling snow and rain. Something I became accustomed to after 3 days of shooting with them. It warms my heart seeing couples like this. No matter what they are doing or what challenges they are presented with they are happy. They know they have one another and that is all they need. So instead of succumbing to the biting cold we ventured out in the barren snow covered streets and made the best of it.

When photographing a destination engagement shoot or destination wedding I always plan ahead. I check out locations and get a handle of the location before I arrive. No matter how much you plan though something will not go according to it. That’s what happened in Paris. Going into the shoot we had a game plan and five or six locations we wanted to visit, but the weather changed our plans. We adjusted and went out to get the shots we came for in France. It was worth it, and Brittany and Lew got the romantic images in Paris that they deserve.
