BRITTANY & LEW | BAMBURGH CASTLE ENGAGEMENT SESSION | PITTSBURGH DESTINATION WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

So far you have seen the snowy streets of London, the architecture of Paris, and now it’s time for a castle on the edge of the sea. I’m not making this stuff up, and yes Brittany and Lew’s engagement session was this awesome. Although I am sad to say this is the last post devoted to their engagement photos, what better way to close it out than with Brittany and Lewis taking the stage with Bamburgh Castle as the backdrop?

I have always been a big fan of epic landscape shots and do my best  to include a few each wedding I shoot.  In my opinion they do a fantastic job of setting the scene and help to capture the essence of the day.  Plus I just think they are awesome!  Bamburgh Castle made for the perfect setting for epic engagement photos, and Brittany and Lew did the rest by being the perfect subjects.

Abbey and I drove up to the castle about an hour before everyone else got there to scope out locations. We were immediately floored by its scale and beauty. The castle was built around 550AD and seriously rocks. It took some time to walk around the entire structure since it was larger than Hogwarts, but it’s medieval architecture made our long walk an entertaining one. The path that we followed cut through the sand dunes and along the beach. It would have been the perfect location for a picnic, hike, or just a day by the water….if it wasn’t the middle of January.  Thankfully, inclement weather did not damper the awesomeness inherent in the colossal stone walls of the castle or within Brittany and Lew as a couple. I know it looks like the white sands of Aruba in some of the photographs, but it’s really snow; snow that started to fall again almost exactly when Brittany stepped out of the car and was ready to go. By that last day of shooting, it was almost an inside joke that the weather would only get really bad at the precise time we wanted to shoot. I cannot reiterate enough how thankful I am to have experienced all of these situations and overcome challenges with Brittany and Lew. Hope all of you have enjoyed the last few posts-I know I have had an absolute blast creating them.

As Lew would say in his killer English accent. “The trip was class!”
