Sometimes a shoot becomes more than just a set amount of time to capture some great images. Sometimes I get to connect with amazing people and be a part of an experience that helps shape my business and who I am as a photographer. That’s what happened in England and France with Brittany and Lew. We shot on 3 different days while we were abroad, and each day I got to know Britt & Lew a little better. I got to see how much they care about each other, I got to chat with Brittany’s parents, and I got to take on challenges with them that each day threw at us. It was an amazing experience and I am beyond excited to shoot their wedding. Before I talk about their photographs I need to thank Brittany and Lew. They are two exceptional people that were willing to do anything to help me capture beautiful moments. It was a blizzard almost the entire time we shot. That is no exaggeration. I spent a lot of time wiping snowflakes off my glass. No matter what the conditions, these two were out there looking amazing. I believe it was their love that kept them warm (had to fit a cheesy line in there somewhere). But seriously it had to be their love because I was in a snow suit comparable to ‘The Christmas Story’ and was cold. Thank you, Brittany & Lew, for making this experience a fantastic one. The two of you are ‘soup-ehr kewllll’ Which is the one French phrase I learned on our trip.  I know that’s not how you spell it, but I want to make sure all of you sound French when you say it.

The shots below were all taken in London, most at Fulham Palace. The fact that Abbey and I found this place is pretty amazing to me. We flew into London not knowing where we wanted to shoot. We just knew that we had some time to find a killer location.  We stayed at a great little little B&B called the Barclay House owned by the fantastic couple Charlotte and Adrian. They invited us up to their flat for wine the first night and we got to talking. Adrian played the piano, talked politics, and even told us some stories from “the good old days.” They suggested that we check out the Palace and said it had a great little park that would look “Absolutely fantastic with a bit of snow.” (Please imagine that being said with a British accent.) We checked it out the next day and they were right…. It was perfect. I feel like I need to write a whole post about talking with people and where it can get you. It seems like such a simple idea, but people have started to lose track of the power of conversation. If Abbey and I were never open to a random wine night with strangers we would have never found this place. I’m just glad we decided some late night vino was a good idea!

I said yesterday that this was going to be a 2 part series, but I just can’t fit enough in two posts. I’m going to break them up for the 3 days we shot. London today, and in the next few days Paris and Bamburgh Castle. My goal is to shoot destination weddings and engagement sessions in the future so another big thanks to Brittany and Lew for the opportunity. You guys rock!

Some absolutely superb and creative photographs. The subject matter, however, is very photogenic.

    THESE ARE JUST PERFECT.
