I have a profound respect for people who follow through with what they say they are going to do. I believe with all of the different means of communicating these days its easy to bow out and find an excuse of why you couldn’t make it happen. I’m pretty sure Jason doesn’t know what not following through means. He is a man of his word…. a seemingly lost virtue that is reserved for characters on the silver screen. My example may be trivial, but it represents just how far Jason will go to keep his promises. His brother, Basil, lives in Belgium with his family. I love to travel so when I went to DC for Sarah and Jason’s engagement session I chatted with them about Belgium and how his brother was enjoying living abroad. Since trappist beer is one of the first things I assimilate with Belgium I had to ask if Basil was a fan of craft beer and if he had tried the rare trappist beers that can only be found on that side of of the globe. Jason said, “Of course. Would you like some?” He said it as casually as if he could just stop at the nearest beer distributor on his way to the wedding. I happen to know that to get Westvleteren beer most have to go to the gates of the monastery to pick it up. My point: this is no easy task and to get me some took effort. Sure enough, when I arrived on Sarah and Jason’s wedding day he had 3 bottles waiting for me. This simple act of kindness represents exactly how Sarah and Jason approach their relationship. An unnerving trust and dedication to each other that they plan to follow through on for the rest of their lives. It is fantastic to witness and was a site to see on their wedding day.
This DC couple decided to have their greek wedding in Pittsburgh with the reception at the Omni William Penn Hotel this past Saturday, and I was thrilled to spend the day with them. Their family and friends were accommodating and friendly throughout the day filled to the brim with greek tradition. Every time I shoot a greek wedding I secretly want to learn the dancing and hook on to the end of the line. I saved myself from embarrassment, and instead photographed Jason who was in his element. Thank you, Sarah and Jason, for inviting me to such a special day. I know your lives together will be full of love and laugher.
