Put a ring on it.
Put a gorge on it.
Throw down some vows on it.
On October 26 I had the absolute pleasure of shooting Kristi and Greg’s wedding on The New River Gorge in West Virginia. To say it was gorgeously spectacular corked in a bottle of amazingness would still not do it justice. When a couple loves each other as much as these two it is hard to have a wedding day that isn’t out of the this world.
The day began with the sun peaking through the fall leaves and kissing the rooftops of the cabins where Greg and Kristi got ready with the people they care most about. Before the wedding day, excitement took hold of them; Kristi and Greg exchanged journals that they promised to write in every year on their anniversary (freaking great idea). My favorite part of the exchanging of these gifts was that they both wrote the same thing. As they read each other’s words of love you could see the emotion coming to their faces. They had been waiting for this day for a long time and couldn’t wait to see each other at the ceremony.
Reasons why their ceremony was so awesome:
Ceremony location placed on an edge of a cliff overlooking a thousand and something foot gorge ….check
Backdrop made up of fall colors that would turn any awesome venue even more amazing….check
Two people exchanging vows in front of an intimate group of people that love them bunches and bunches…check
After the ceremony we wandered into the woods to take advantage of the fall colors and the beautiful scenic views the country had to offer. This is also when I asked Greg and Kristi if they would be willing to climb down to the edge of the cliff face for an epic wide shot. They didn’t even look down before they said “Heck ya we will!'” I love when couples are all about pushing the limits a bit to get an awesome image.
The perfect fall day turned into the perfect fall night and the guests danced and sang the night away while sipping on celebration libations. It was perfect, it was beautiful, it couldn’t have been better. Thank you, Kristi and Greg, for trusting me with such an important task. It means the world to me and I can’t wait to see what your new life together brings.
